F-35 Lightning II Will Thunder Over AIRSHOW LONDON

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: Friday, March 3, 2017

The USAF F-35A Lightning II Heritage team is coming to AIRSHOW LONDON 2017.  AIRSHOW organizers today confirmed the F-35A has been added to a growing power line up of performers set for the September 22nd - 24th event. The F-35A is a multi-variant, multirole aircraft currently being flown by the US Air Force, the Marine Corps and is slated to be added as a major addition to the US Navy air arsenal. The jet fighter is produced in three variants (A,B,C) and is not only capable of air to air and air to ground engagements but it can switch between the two roles while in flight. The F-35 Lightning II brings an enhanced capability to survive in the advanced threat environment in which it was designed to operate.  Its superior performance and integrated avionics allows it to provide next-generation stealth, heightened awareness and reduced vulnerability. Its appearance at AIRSHOW LONDON 2017 will be part of the US Air Force Heritage Flight and will originate out of Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.

AIRSHOW LONDON Executive Director, Dave De Kelver says news of a London appearance by the F-35A Lightning II is spreading quickly across aviation social networks. “I started getting calls, text messages and emails almost immediately after the schedule was confirmed and they haven’t stopped. London is one of two Canadian appearances scheduled for this amazing aircraft and the only opportunity for show goers this side of the Rockies to get a look at it. This is a jet fighter seldom seen by the public and only shared with a privileged few.  We are thrilled to have been chosen as its showcase.”

The AIRSHOW LONDON roster also includes the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration Team and the CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team.  De Kelver says the Snowbird’s Tudor jet precision and aerobatics make them crowd favourites and he expects national pride will again be flying at supersonic speed with the appearance of the CF-18 Hornet.

AIRSHOW LONDON will celebrate CANADA 150 by presenting premiere air demonstration teams from Canada, the United States and countries around the world. De Kelver adds there will be more announcements – soon – and he anticipates the twitter feed will be buzzing.
